Tips for Boosting the Performance of Your Data Center

Tips for Boosting the Performance of Your Data Center

If your business relies on a strong network powered by a significant data center, you must do everything in your power to keep operations effective and efficient. Luckily, you can ensure a functional network by simply implementing smart layouts, backup power sources, and on-site security. Here are three simple tips for boosting the performance of your data center.

Install Overhead Bus Systems

Data centers contain tons of wires and cords powering countless pieces of hardware. You must be mindful of cable placement in even the largest rooms to ensure that you have an effective and powerful network.

That’s where an overhead bus system comes in. These structures help maintain order among the cords that power server racks and cabinets. The bus rests over these racks, keeping wires separated from equipment and human interaction. Additionally, you can use programs to monitor your power supply in an overhead system to anticipate any problems that may cause outages.

Prevent Downtime

There are many other methods for successfully preventing downtime aside from overhead bus systems. The most vital steps include installing and powering various equipment that cools hardware and regulates internal temperatures. Vents and fans are also typically necessary when designing a data center.

Additionally, you want to include power redundancy in your data center for your machines and equipment. These uninterruptible power systems (UPS) provide waves of power congruently. Furthermore, these devices can provide more or less power to specific areas and hardware (depending on the needs) in the event of blackouts or outages.

Provide Security

Data centers are the main targets for malicious cyber thieves and hackers. These individuals typically seek the personal information of your employees, customers, and other data regarding business operations.

While firewalls are the best ways to guard these valuable records, you should also consider hiring on-site security professionals for added defense. Even one security individual is capable of controlling who can and cannot enter the data center. Cameras and trip alarms are also good options, especially if you can’t provide 24-hour physical protection.

Businesses rely on strong networks, both for operations and customer experience. By using these tips for boosting the performance of your data center, you can ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and ultimately, more business success!
