Tips for Attracting More Clients to Your Tattoo Studio

Attracting more clients to your tattoo studio can be tough when there is so much competition in today’s market. How do you ensure your shop stands out among the sea of other artists? While this will be challenging, it isn’t impossible—consider the following strategies for growing your appointment book and meeting fresh, new clients.

Be Active on the Right Social Media Platforms

If you’re not active on social media, you could be harming your business more than you would think. The generations more likely to get a tattoo are extremely active on various social media channels, and these platforms are essential for connecting with clients and showcasing your work. Instagram is a popular option because you can post photos of your work, share your schedule and availability, and respond to client inquiries.

Pro Tip

Never add filters to your images, as this could lower the quality of the tattoo you’re showing.

Design a Welcoming Atmosphere

Customers who walk into a tattoo studio with an intimidating, uncomfortable, or anxiety-inducing atmosphere will often turn around and walk back out—meaning you lost a potential client. Creating a safe tattoo experience with a clean environment will put clients at ease because it shows you care about their well-being. In addition, consider possible décor items, furniture, wall colors, and other design factors you can use to curate an experience at your shop.

Offer Discounts or Incentives for Referrals

A quick way to attract more clients to your tattoo studio is by offering discounts or incentives to previous clients if they refer a friend or relative. Business cannot thrive every day; when your clientele is lacking, ask old clients for new referrals. Having discounts or other incentives available will make suggesting a referral to individuals more enticing.

Find Your Signature Style

Practicing new styles is part of the industry, but your early practice pieces shouldn’t end up on customers. This art is permanent, which means tattooing clients using a style you aren’t confident in can harm your reputation. In fact, when you know what style of tattoo you’re best at, it will push people to seek out your work and studio specifically. Consider having a range of styles in your shop by hiring other artists who understand and know their niche in tattooing.

Do not get discouraged when your business is running slow—ensure you are doing everything possible to lure potential new clients to your studio. You must use various strategies to attract more people to your tattoo shop when the competition is fierce. What will you do to pull in new clientele?
