Ways To Boost Product Visibility in Your Retail Store

Last Updated on June 9, 2022 by Jeff Long

If your retail store looks or feels cluttered, your sales can suffer. Every good retailer knows that product visibility is key to keeping customers engaged with their products and overall store. If your store feels cluttered or if your product selection is difficult to browse, read on to discover ways to boost product visibility in your retail store. Practice these methods to improve sales, sell slow-moving products, and more.

Optimize Displays for Sight Lines

Understanding sight lines and focal points is crucial in determining your retail store layout. Sight lines and focal points help draw the customer’s eye naturally through your store, which impacts product visibility.

Sight lines usually lead to focal points, so consider where your customer’s gaze will start and end. Factor in the visible products from the store’s entrance to the individual aisles, then finally to the checkout line. By placing products along these sightlines and focal points, you can draw the customer’s attention to them and increase their recognition of certain products.

Use Clear Signage

Designing in-store marketing materials and signage for your products is practically an art form. Your marketing team should consider several distinct factors when creating your in-store signage. Make sure that all your signs are clearly visible and readable from different angles, distances, and heights. Using hanging signage is a great way to drive sales, but if your customers can’t read the font from below, you render your signage useless. Make sure to test the colors, fonts, and other design choices during the creation process.

Keep Things Organized

While a barren retail store can be a red flag to potential customers, one that has cluttered product displays will turn them off as well. If the customer feels overwhelmed by too many products, they may skip an aisle or walk out entirely. Keep your products organized along the customer’s line of sight. Utilize space above or below the line of sight as well—just remember to always keep items within reach, or customers may overlook them.

Ensure that your customers are browsing your store to its full potential with these ways to boost product visibility in your retail store. Optimizing your store layout and signage will also help you create a welcoming and well-designed storefront for your potential customers.
